Sensei (Renshi) David Rogers

The head instructor of SHORIN-RYU KARATE is Sensei (Renshi) David Rogers, an internationally certified 6th degree Black Belt in Okinawan Shorin-Ryu ShorinKan Karate and a 4th degree Black Belt in Kobudo (Okinawan Art of Weaponry).  Additionally, Sensei David trains directly under and is awarded ranking by Grand Master, Hanshi Judan (10th degree Black Belt) Shugoro Nakazato Sensei in Okinawa, Japan and was personally awarded his Shihan (teaching) Certification from Nakazato Sensei in 2002.  In addition, he earned his B.A. Degree in Liberal Arts from is a substitute teacher (K-12) in the Paso Robles School District and is listed in the Madison Who’s Who 2008-2009.  For continuing education, Sensei David and Michelle travel to Okinawa at least annually for training under Nakazato Sensei, in addition to traveling to Southern California for training under his immediate instructor, Kyoshi Nabil Noujaim (8th degree Black Belt).

Sensei Michelle Rogers

The director of the LIL’ DRAGON, a pre-Karate program (for 3-7 year olds) is Sensei Michelle Rogers.  She is an internationally ranked 4th degree Black Belt in Shorin-Ryu ShorinKan Karate and a 2nd degree Black Belt in Kobudo.  Sensei Michelle has also taught Karate classes in the Paso Robles, San Miguel, and the Shandon Boys & Girls Club facilities.  In addition, Sensei Michelle holds a B.A. Degree in Education from San Diego State University, a State of California Emergency Teaching Credential and is a substitute teacher (K-12) in the Paso Robles School District.

The Lil’ Dragon activities are a pre-Karate program which emphasizes coordination, biomechanics and life skills.  Much of their training is directed toward the mental and physical discipline along with self-reliance, personal responsibility, self-defense and self-esteem.  In addition, students are introduced to karate skills and katas for their advancement to the regular karate program.

  1. We love Sensei Michelle!!! My son has taken self-defense from her. He adored her! (Looking forward to it again this summer!) And I've sat on those benches for MANY a classes of my nephews! lol

  2. Sensei David and Michelle are some of the most genuine people I know. They have been overly generous and kind to my family, on more than one occasion. They are passionate about what they teach. We miss them.
