A must read.
A story of love, lust, betrayal, anguish, forgiveness, brokenness, surrender, and restoration. A living proof that putting God first even through tremendous struggles will reap the benefits of God and the rewards of His promises.
Josh and Serena, this is their story.
Josh and Serena started their blog, 'Til Death Do Us Part, in April of 2011. They started it because more and more people were asking them about the story of their marriage. Rather than send them to a blog that had all sorts of random things about their family, they created a new one to highlight the story. They didn’t make the site public right away. On one hand they were so grateful for the place that the Lord had brought them; but on the other, what advice did they have to tell others about marriage and standing for it? They were by no means perfect. Even years after what seemed like the end of their marriage, they felt that they still had so far to go. But, eventually they made the site public and the Lord blessed it. In just over four months, they have had almost 10,000 views from all around the world.
Now, they have a daily following of readers, both public and private, that lean upon their advice and counsel regarding how to stand for your marriage. Standing for your marriage is not something that they take lightly. From their own past experiences, they have learned the importance of standing strong in the face of marital failure. They frequently receive emails with personal prayer requests and questions about what to do in specific cases.
In June of 2011, they had the privilege of being interviewed by Luke Gilkerson of Covenant Eyes. It was a two-part interview that can be listened to here.
Their primary foundation for all that they share about you, your marriage, and standing for it can be summed up in this truth: God is BIGGER!!! It does not matter the situation or circumstance, God is BIGGER than all of it. And He can do what no one else can.
A Stander's Affirmation
I AM STANDING FOR THE HEALING OF MY MARRIAGE!!! I will not give up, give in, give out or give over 'til that healing takes place. I made a vow, I said the words, I gave the pledge, I gave a ring, I took a ring, I gave myself, I trusted GOD, and said the words, and meant the words... in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in good times and in bad...so I am standing NOW, and will not sit down, let down, slow down, calm down, fall down, look down or be down 'til the breakdown is torn down!
Serena stood for her marriage and believed God.
I refuse to put my eyes on outward circumstances, or listen to prophets of doom, or buy into what is trendy, worldly, popular, convenient, easy, quick, thrifty, or advantageous...nor will I settle for a cheap imitation of God's real thing, nor will I seek to lower God's standard, twist God's will, rewrite God's Word, violate God's covenant, or accept what God hates, namely divorce!
Josh surrendered to the call of God and reclaimed his anointing.
What God has put together, let no man put asunder.
Redemption is often a family affair.
Marriages come under attack. Good marriages don't just happen, they are created. Marriages that weather the storms of life enjoy the fragrance of fresh and a view of the rainbow of happiness.
Josh and Serena renewed their vows in 2010. They have five wonderful children and by the time this post is online, they may have their sixth child.
They presently reside in Colorado.
